Colonial Dollhouse Reno-Interior first floor

Wait until you see the before shot!

This beautiful Colonial Dollhouse belonged to my dear friend. She found it in her parent's attic and brought it over to us. At that point I had another dollhouse project so we decided to renovate this house for another friend's daughters. She was a part of the planning process and selected the color scheme and general theme of the house, traditional with girly flair!

Other than a little bit of water damage in the right room, a broken roof piece, and some dust, the house was in great shape. I perked up the floors with a layer of Mod Podge, painted the fireplace, and added Dentil Molding. When I primed the outside of the house I came through the window openings so the whole house would be fresh and nice.

Voila! Jess selected pink and rose pink vertical stripe scrapbook paper wallpaper. The chair rail, wainscoting, baseboard, and dentil molding finished out the room. I also perked up the staircase with Mod Podge. We upgraded the front door to one on hinges and put the house down on a board for stability. This is one of my favorite living rooms!

I sent Jess a few options for funky fun Kitchen wallpaper. She started laughing when she saw the flamingos. She and her dad had a longstanding inside joke about flamingos. It was a no brainer to use flamingos in memory of him. The simple "light" fixture is beads and jewelry wire.

Check out my other post for pictures of the upstairs!
