The Fairfield 1:24 scale exterior
Ok! I adore 1:24 scale!!! If you thought 1:12 was fun strap on your tiny boots and jump in!
I'll add other interior photos later but this post is dedicated to the current exterior and the plans!
I changed the design so there will be a balcony instead of a porch roof! The second floor front window was opened to create a door. This left an extra window frame and plastic which was used for the bottom left front window. In the kit plans this originally was the kitchen door. I simply built up the wall with cardboard and covered it with siding. Voila! The siding is cut cereal boxes :D It's easy and inexpensive! One must simply be careful not to add too much paint at one time or it will ripple. The porch and balcony floors are popsicle sticks. All floors are done in the same style except for the bathroom and conservatory floors. I mean why mess with perfection!?
Above is the color inspiration for the exterior.
My current favorite thing about 1:24 scale is the ability to make almost anything out of popsicle sticks and basswood!
On the side of the house I became inspired to build a 2 story conservatory! The idea happened early on in the project and above you can see the brainstorming sketch followed by the progression.
The skeleton is done!
Here it is painted and ready to get "glass" tomorrow!
Stay tuned for more!
